Getting started can be the hardest part, but we're here to help!
Follow these four steps to fill your calendar and make the most of your first month!
Step 1:
Create your booking notebook
This is a notebook that you'll be coming back to and adding people to throughout your UBAM career. At the top of each page, write a different category of friends and family. Good choices include:
Family
Church Friends
Neighbors
High School Friends
College Friends
Co-Workers
Teachers
Spouse's Friends
Spouse's Co-Workers
Facebook Friends
Kids' Activities' Friends
Acquaintances (hair stylist, mail lady, etc.)
Try to have at least 10 names on each page, and then continue adding people you meet to your booking notebook. These are your leads!

Step 2:
Mark your Open Dates on a calendar
Take a highlighter and mark the days you want to work for the next month. If you want to build a business, mark 6-8 days.

Step 3:
Congratulations! Your first Open Date is your Kick-Off Party! Write your name down!
To get the most free books for yourself, have TWO kick-offs - a home party followed the next night by a Facebook party for your out-of-town family and friends! Then we'll combine both shows for one HUGE total, which will get you tons of free books and commission! Plus, the big sales will get you closer to becoming Success Bound:
When you become Success Bound in your incentive period (first 12 weeks), you earn a FREE box of Usborne books and business supplies! Awesome! If it's in your first 30 days, you'll earn back half the price of your consultant kit! Sweet!
Here's another strategy for success - 3 in a row!
Here's an example of what this looks like:
Hold your 1st kick-off party on a Thursday, your friend's party on Friday, and your 2nd kick-off party Saturday. That way, for your first show you’ll be a bit nervous, working the bugs out, and you'll get at least one booking, BUT you’ll see how much everyone LOVES our books. Then for the second party you'll be confident from the bookings and the excitement from the night before! You’ll rock Party #2 with several bookings and a recruit lead, and even more sales! Finally, Party #3 is your second kick-off party for those who couldn’t attend the weeknight party (they might feel badly if they couldn’t attend the first kick-off, after all, it's rude to say no twice - ha!). We'll combine your two kick-off parties' sales, and get you TONS of double-free books plus your commission!

Step 4:
Phone a Friend
(Yeah, I'd be phoning a really smart friend for this one!)
Go back to your booking notebook and put a check mark by four people on each page that you'd like to party with! You're going to reach out to them, let them know you've started a new business and that you'd love their help! (Also, put a star by the people in your notebook that you'd love to work with! These are your friends that you'll reach out to and invite to join you in the business. It's so much fun to do this with a friend!)
Here's a good script you can use or modify:
Hey, girl! You'll never guess what - I joined Usborne Books & More! I'm a consultant now, and I get to give my first few hostesses DOUBLE-FREE books! These books are fabulous, and I know your children will love them. Can we do a party together? I really need the practice; you'd be helping me out so much! Plus, we'll have a blast!
When she says, "Sure," tell her your first three open dates and let her choose.
Great! You are such an awesome friend! Okay, I have this day, this day, and this day open. Which one works for you?
Then write her name down on your calendar and reach out to your next friend in your booking notebook!
Pretty soon, your calendar will look like this:
Now, after this month, here's what it will possibly will look like:

Parties 1 and 2 were your kick-offs, which we combined and you had $550 in sales! WOOT! You racked up $200 in free books for your family and earned over $100 in commission! Party 4 cancelled and Party 5 had low sales, but that's okay because we had a full calendar and the others made up for it. With this month, you made $387 in commission and became Success Bound (and if this is your first 30 days, you also scored a half-refund on the price of your kit! Not kidding!
